1:1 Paraprofessional – Kindergarten Student

Location: Placerville, CA
Pay: $30 - $33 an hour
Position Type: Full-Time

Blazer Jobs is actively interviewing experienced 1:1 Paraprofessionals for a full-time position in Placerville, CA. This role involves working directly with a kindergarten student who exhibits extreme behavioral challenges, including elopement, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), and physical aggression. The ideal candidate will have experience in behavior management, de-escalation strategies, and supporting students with significant behavioral needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct 1:1 support to the student throughout the school day.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and de-escalation techniques as directed by school staff.
  • Prevent elopement by closely monitoring the student and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
  • Utilize positive reinforcement and redirection strategies to support behavioral growth.
  • Assist the student with academic tasks and engagement in classroom activities.
  • Communicate regularly with teachers, special education staff, and parents as needed.
  • Maintain a structured and supportive environment to help the student manage emotional and behavioral challenges.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Applicants must meet all local and state requirements for paraprofessionals in California, including:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Paraprofessional certification or ability to obtain certification (preferred).
  • Experience working with students with severe behavioral challenges, including aggression and elopement (required).
  • Crisis intervention training (CPI, PMT, or similar) (preferred).
  • Strong ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively manage challenging behaviors.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
