Job Title: Special Education Teacher (Elementary - K-2)

Location: Washington State, WA
Position Type: Full-Time, Contract
Salary: Starting at $44 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with Autism and other developmental delays in the elementary (K-2) setting.
  • Provide specialized instruction and support tailored to meet the unique needs of each student on the caseload.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices and strategies to promote academic, social, and emotional growth.
  • Collaborate with a team of educators, parents, therapists, and administrators to facilitate a comprehensive learning environment.
  • Assess student progress regularly, adjust instructional strategies as needed, and maintain accurate records of student performance.
  • Lead and support paraeducators, providing guidance and training to ensure effective classroom support.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that promotes engagement, independence, and self-advocacy skills.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Valid Washington State Teaching License with Special Education endorsement.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and developmental delays.
  • Proficiency in developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Strong understanding of behavior management techniques and positive behavior support strategies.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate with parents/guardians.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role, guiding and supervising paraeducators.
  • Knowledge of state and federal special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
