Join Our Team as an Elementary School RESOURCE Setting SPED Teacher in Albemarle, NC!

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with special needs? We are seeking two dedicated Special Education Teachers for our elementary schools in Albemarle, NC, for the 2024/2025 school year.

Position: Special Education Teacher (RESOURCE Setting)


  • Start Date: July 31, 2024
  • End Date: May 23, 2025

Hours: Full-time, 7.5 hours per day

Grade Levels: Kindergarten through 5th grade

Caseload Size: 12-15 students

Experience Level: New graduates and out-of-state candidates are welcome to apply.

Qualifications: Certified in Special Education: General Curriculum

Primary Duties:

  • Develop and implement instructional plans aligned with school and district-wide curricular goals and the students Individual Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Create and update IEPs based on diagnostic information from tests and assessments.
  • Provide direct special education instruction to identified students, employing a variety of teaching methods to meet diverse needs.
  • Adapt or develop materials as necessary to support instructional methods.
  • Monitor and manage student behavior, using de-escalation techniques and teaching appropriate behavioral strategies.
  • Maintain classroom discipline and manage behavioral incidents, including physical restraints when necessary, with proper documentation and reporting.
  • Assist students with personal and self-help needs, such as eating and toileting.
  • Communicate regularly with parents about their children s educational progress through written progress reports.
  • Act as a case coordinator for assigned students, consulting with community caregivers, school support professionals, and parents to address students needs.
