Special Education Teacher 24/25 SY

Job Title: Special Education Teacher (3 Full-Time Positions Available)

Work Schedule: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Location: Arlington, VA

Licensing Requirement: Must be licensed or eligible for a Virginia teaching license.

Position Overview: We are seeking dedicated and passionate Special Education Teachers to join our team for the upcoming school year. These full-time positions involve supporting students in various self-contained settings, catering to their individual educational needs and fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Position 1: Special Education Teacher (Grades K-2)

Responsibilities:

  • Support students in grades K-2 in a self-contained setting.
  • Manage a caseload of approximately 8 students.
  • Provide instruction in both general and special education settings.
  • Address a range of disability categories.
  • Collaborate with one assistant to support student learning and development.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Virginia teaching license or eligibility for the same.
  • Experience with K-2 students in special education settings preferred.
  • Strong understanding of various disability categories and individualized education plans (IEPs).

Position 2: Special Education Teacher (Grades 3-5)

Responsibilities:

  • Support students in grades 3-5 in a self-contained setting.
  • Manage a caseload of approximately 7 students.
  • Provide instruction in both general and special education settings.
  • Address a range of disability categories.
  • Collaborate with one assistant to support student learning and development.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Virginia teaching license or eligibility for the same.
  • Experience with grades 3-5 students in special education settings preferred.
  • Strong understanding of various disability categories and individualized education plans (IEPs).

Position 3: Special Education Teacher (Multi-intervention Program for Autism - MIPA)

Responsibilities:

  • Support students in the Multi-intervention Program for Autism (MIPA) in grades K-2.
  • Manage a caseload of 6 students, all with the disability category of Autism.
  • Provide instruction in both general and special education settings.
  • Collaborate with speech/language pathologists and other specialists.
  • Utilize AAC communication devices as needed.
  • Work with two assistants to support student learning and development.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Virginia teaching license or eligibility for the same.
  • Experience working with students with Autism and utilizing AAC devices preferred.
  • Strong collaboration skills with specialists and assistants.
