Special Education Teacher Elementary Resource - Dearborn, MI

To work as a Special Education Teacher in Michigan, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Special Education (ASD preferred).
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related field.
  • Complete a state-approved teacher preparation program.
  • Pass the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) in Special Education.
  • Meet Michigan Department of Education (MDE) continuing education requirements.

We are looking for a Special Education Teacher (SPED) for an Elementary Resource Room in Dearborn, MI for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year.This is an immediate need, and we are looking for someone to interview and start quickly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
  • Provide direct instruction and interventions in an elementary resource room setting.
  • Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other special needs.
  • Work collaboratively with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student success.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal special education laws while documenting student progress.

Additional Details and Requirements:

  • Certification Requirement: Special Education Teacher MUST be certified as an ASD Teacher (or have a Special Education Endorsement).
  • IEP Experience: Experience writing and implementing IEPs for ASD students in a resource setting is preferred.
  • Position Duration: Full-time position through the end of the 2024-2025 school year with opportunity to renew.
