We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher for a full school year contract position in a school district near Ferndale, MI. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with students with special needs and committed to providing high-quality educational support to ensure student success.


  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement effective instructional strategies.
  • Adapt and modify curriculum materials to meet the needs of students.
  • Assess students skills and learning requirements.
  • Use a variety of teaching techniques and materials to provide individualized instruction.
  • Monitor and report on students' progress.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and development.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development sessions.


  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid Michigan state teaching license with Special Education endorsement.
  • Previous experience working with students with special needs is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of IEP processes and special education laws.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Licensure and State Requirements:

  • Must hold a current Michigan teaching license with an endorsement in Special Education.
  • Candidates must meet all Michigan Department of Education requirements for Special Education teachers.
  • Continuing education and professional development as required by the state.
