Key Responsibilities
As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students’ unique needs.
- Providing direct instruction in both group and one-on-one settings.
- Modifying curriculum and teaching strategies to accommodate students with varying abilities.
- Collaborating with parents, teachers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students.
- Monitoring and assessing student progress toward IEP goals.
- Creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
- Providing behavioral and academic support as needed to help students succeed.
- Maintaining accurate records of student progress, behavior, and IEP goals.
Qualifications
Required Education and Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or related field.
- NJ State Certification as a Special Education Teacher (or eligibility for certification).
- Applicants must meet all local and state requirements, including background checks, certifications, and other regulatory compliance.
Skills and Experience:
- Experience teaching students with disabilities or special needs is preferred.
- Knowledge of the IEP process, including writing and implementing IEPs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Compassion, patience, and the ability to engage and motivate students.
