Job Title: Special Education Teacher (High School Co-Teacher)
Location: Winchester, Virginia
Hourly Rate: $34-$37 per hour
Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team in Winchester, Virginia. As a High School Co-Teacher specializing in Pull Out programs, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized education and support to students with diverse learning needs. This position is onsite only.
Key Responsibilities:
- Co-Teaching: Collaborate with general education teachers to provide inclusive classroom instruction while accommodating the individualized needs of students with disabilities.
- Pull Out Programs: Identify students who require additional instruction and support outside the regular classroom setting. Develop and implement tailored lesson plans to address their unique learning needs.
- Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Work closely with the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team to create, implement, and monitor IEPs for students with disabilities, ensuring their educational goals and objectives are met.
- Differentiated Instruction: Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse learning styles and abilities of students with disabilities. Provide a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess and track the academic and behavioral progress of students in your caseload. Use data-driven insights to adjust instruction and interventions as necessary.
- Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with parents, caregivers, and other stakeholders to keep them informed about students' progress and any concerns.
- Behavioral Support: Implement behavior management strategies and interventions to promote positive behavior and social skills development among students with disabilities.
- Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in special education and attend relevant training and workshops to enhance your teaching skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Virginia state teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with high school students with disabilities.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students with diverse learning needs succeed.
