Job Description
The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs. The ideal candidate will have experience in creating inclusive learning environments and using evidence-based instructional strategies to support student success.
Responsibilities
As a special education teacher in our district, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs.
- Adapt and modify curriculum and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs.
- Utilize evidence-based teaching methods to support academic, social, and emotional growth.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Implement behavior management strategies to support positive student behavior.
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instruction as necessary.
- Work closely with general education teachers, administrators, and support staff to coordinate and deliver services.
- Communicate regularly with patients and guardians to provide updates on student progress and involve them in the educational process.
- Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and school events.
- Conduct assessments to identify students' strengths and areas of need.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress toward IEP goals.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or Master’s/Doctoral degree in Special Education/ Teaching Students with Special Needs
- Must hold a valid New Hampshire Teaching Certificate with special education endorsement
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher.
- Strong understanding of special education laws and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and collaboration.
