Special Education Teacher - Thomasville, NC (Full-Time, Onsite)
Blazer Jobs is partnering with a school district in Thomasville, NC, to fill a full-time, onsite Special Education Teacher position for the current school year. This position offers vision, medical, and dental options, competitive pay, advisory support, and professional development opportunities.
Grades: K - 3rd & 6th - 12th
Caseload: 25-30 students
Location: 1 - 2 schools
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complete all required IEP documentation in compliance with NC Policies Governing Services to Students with Disabilities.
- Develop individual educational programs (IEP) to promote students' educational, physical, and social development in collaboration with parents, administrators, and other IEP team members.
- Serve as the case manager for an assigned group of students, managing the EC folder and coordinating IEP meetings.
- Collaborate with district leadership and support staff to provide services to students with disabilities.
- Teach socially acceptable behavior and employ positive behavioral interventions and supports.
- Conduct a balanced program of instruction, including activities for exploration and inquiry.
- Teach personal development skills such as goal setting, independence, and self-advocacy.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve academic and behavioral issues.
- Facilitate the inclusion of students with special needs into general education settings.
- Supervise teacher assistants and volunteers to ensure adherence to IEP requirements.
- Prepare, administer, and grade assessments to evaluate students' progress.
- Instruct students in daily living skills such as hygiene, safety, and food preparation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of NC Policies Governing Services for Children with Disabilities and required record-keeping.
- Ability to plan and deliver specially designed instruction using evidence-based practices.
- Strong communication skills in written, electronic, and in-person formats.
- Demonstrated patience and compassion when working with students and parents.
- Skill in identifying student learning and personal needs and providing appropriate interventions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Google Drive.
- Experience with IEP development, progress monitoring, and instructional software, such as ECATS and InfiniteCampus.
Renewal for the following school year will be based on performance and needs.
