BlazerJobs is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for multiple school-based positions in Avondale, AZ. This is an exciting opportunity to work with students who have diverse learning needs in a supportive, inclusive environment. We have a variety of positions available across elementary and junior high school levels, with an emphasis on behavioral needs. Interviews are happening now!


Available Positions:

  • Junior High School - Behavior Needs (7th-8th Grades)

    • Caseload: 8-12 students
    • Special Education Teacher for self-contained classrooms for students with behavioral needs
    • Support: Instructional Assistants (IAs) available in the classroom
    • Requirements: Special Education Certificate required
  • Elementary School - Resource (4th-6th Grades)

    • Caseload: 20-26 students
    • Position Type: Resource teacher working with students in inclusive settings with varying special education needs
    • Requirements: Special Education Certificate required
  • Elementary School - Resource (K-5th Grades)

    • Caseload: 20-26 students
    • Position Type: Resource teacher focusing on academic support for elementary-aged students
    • Requirements: Special Education Certificate required
  • Elementary School - Resource (6th-8th Grades)

    • Caseload: 20-26 students
    • Position Type: Resource teacher offering support across middle school grade levels
    • Requirements: Special Education Certificate required

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s academic, behavioral, and social needs
  • Provide direct instruction and academic support to students in small groups or individual settings
  • Create a positive and structured learning environment to support students’ emotional and behavioral growth
  • Collaborate with parents, general education teachers, and other staff to track and assess student progress
  • Manage classroom behavior with appropriate strategies, using interventions and supports for students with behavioral needs
  • Document and track student progress regularly, making adjustments to IEPs and goals as needed
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development opportunities

Qualifications:

  • Special Education Certificate (required)
  • Previous experience working with students with behavioral needs is preferred
  • Strong classroom management skills and ability to create a supportive learning environment
  • Experience with IEP development and working collaboratively with parents and staff
  • Passion for working with students in need of behavioral and academic support
