Tazewell, VA - Special Education Teacher (2024-2025 School Year)

Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and Implement IEPs (Individualized Education Plans):
  Create tailored IEPs for each student, ensuring their educational needs, strengths, and goals are met. Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to ensure the effectiveness of these plans.

• Build an Inclusive Learning Environment:
  Foster a classroom that is welcoming, safe, and supportive, where every student is encouraged to engage in learning, feel respected, and thrive.

• Collaborate with Team Members:
  Work closely with general education teachers, school administrators, and support staff to coordinate services and provide the best educational experience for students with special needs.

• Support Social and Emotional Growth:
  Implement strategies to help students develop essential social skills, manage behaviors, and build emotional resilience, promoting positive interactions and academic engagement.

• Commit to Ongoing Professional Development:
  Participate in continuous learning opportunities to stay informed about best practices in special education and improve your teaching techniques.

Qualifications:

• Required Qualifications:

  • Special Education Certification in Virginia (or eligibility to obtain certification)
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Special Education
  • Knowledge of IEP development and understanding of special education laws and regulations

• Experience:

  • Experience with students with special needs is preferred, but we also welcome passionate individuals who are committed to supporting students in achieving their potential.
