A school district in Columbus, GA is actively searching for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join their team at a school in Columbus, GA As a TVI, you will provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, helping them achieve their educational goals and fostering independence.
Details:
- Full Time at 35 hours a week
- Contract
- 2024 - 2025 School Year
- Caseload: Itinerant, covering staff out on medical throughout the county
Caseload details will be discussed on the virtual interview.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to determine students' visual functioning and educational needs.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs and goals.
- Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects, adaptive skills, and assistive technology use.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and other professionals to support students' academic and social-emotional development.
- Adapt instructional materials and strategies to accommodate students' visual impairments.
- Monitor student progress, collect data, and adjust instruction as needed.
- Stay informed about best practices, technologies, and resources in the field of visual impairment education.
Qualifications:
- Active State License in Visual Education
- Master's in Education for Visually Impaired Students
