A school district located in El Paso, TX is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) for a full-time position to support the 2023-2024 school year. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialized instruction to students with visual impairments in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments in a variety of educational settings, including individual and small group instruction.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, other related service providers, and parents/guardians to ensure that the educational program is integrated into the overall educational program.
- Assess students' visual functioning and educational needs, and develop individualized goals and objectives to improve their educational outcomes.
- Teach adaptive skills to students with visual impairments to enable them to function effectively in the school and community settings.
- Utilize appropriate technology and other materials to facilitate learning for students with visual impairments.
- Attend IEP meetings and communicate regularly with parents/guardians and other team members regarding students' progress and needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education or a related field, with an emphasis in teaching the visually impaired.
- State Teaching Credential for the Visually Impaired (TVI).
- Experience working with students with visual impairments, preferably in a school setting.
- Knowledge of IEP development and implementation.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to use technology to support student learning and progress monitoring.
