Blazer Jobs is actively seeking experienced Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for full-time positions within school districts in the Lorain County, OH area.

Position Summary: As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, ensuring that they have access to a high-quality education and the tools they need to succeed. You will collaborate with educators, families, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and support services.

Requirements: Candidates must meet all local and state requirements to practice as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired. Essential qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or related field.
  • Valid Ohio state teaching license with Visual Impairment endorsement or certification.
  • Knowledge of braille and other specialized instructional techniques for students with visual impairments.
  • Previous experience working with students with visual impairments preferred.


  • Conduct assessments to determine students' educational needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) based on assessment data.
  • Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, including reading, writing, math, and technology skills, using specialized materials and techniques as needed.
  • Teach braille and other adaptive skills to students with visual impairments, and provide instruction in the use of assistive technology and other adaptive devices.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure that students with visual impairments have access to the curriculum and appropriate accommodations and modifications.
  • Provide consultation and training to school staff and parents on topics related to visual impairment and accessibility.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction and support services as needed to address individual learning needs.
