Teacher of the Visually Impaired - Elyria, OH

Blazer Jobs is actively interviewing an experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired for full-time positions within school districts located in the Elyria, OH area. We are seeking dedicated professionals who meet all local and state requirements to join our team and provide exceptional educational support to students with visual impairments.

Requirements:

  • Valid Ohio teaching license with a Visual Impairment endorsement.
  • Bachelor s degree in Special Education, Visual Impairments, or a related field (Master s degree preferred).
  • Proven experience working with students who are visually impaired, preferably in a school setting.
  • Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and other resources for the visually impaired.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, parents, and support staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student with visual impairments.
  • Provide direct instruction in Braille, use of assistive technology, and other skills essential for visually impaired students.
  • Adapt and modify curriculum materials to ensure accessibility for students with visual impairments.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support the integration of visually impaired students into the classroom.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed to promote academic and social development.
  • Facilitate communication between parents, teachers, and other school staff to support student success.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss and plan student interventions and support services.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and progress.
