We are seeking a dedicated Behavior Intervention Specialist to support students with behavioral and emotional challenges and contribute to their academic success in the classroom setting.

Position Summary:
The Behavior Intervention Specialist will work directly with students to identify and address behavioral concerns that may affect their learning and overall well-being. The specialist will collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) that support positive student behavior and academic achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) to identify underlying causes of challenging behaviors in students.
  • Develop and implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) tailored to meet each student’s needs.
  • Provide direct support to students in the classroom to manage and improve behavior.
  • Work with teachers and staff to modify the classroom environment and teaching strategies to promote positive behavior.
  • Collaborate with parents and caregivers to share progress, provide resources, and ensure the consistency of interventions across home and school environments.
  • Track and analyze data on student behavior, adjusting intervention plans as needed to ensure effectiveness.
  • Train and support staff on behavior management techniques and the consistent implementation of BIPs.
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support when needed, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students and staff.
  • Support the development of social skills and emotional regulation in students.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of behavior plans, interventions, and student progress.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Special Education, Social Work, or a related field with a 4 year degree.
  • Experience working with students in a school setting, particularly those with emotional or behavioral disorders.
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and other evidence-based behavioral intervention strategies.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, particularly those with challenging behaviors or special needs.
  • Understanding of school policies, legal guidelines (e.g., IDEA), and best practices in behavior management.
  • Valid teaching credential or educational assistant certification may be preferred depending on local regulations.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other developmental disabilities.
  • Familiarity with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and the ability to contribute to their development and implementation.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful or crisis situations.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to effectively manage caseloads and interventions.
