Responsibilities:
- Academic Support:
- Help students set academic goals and provide strategies for academic improvement.
- Collaborate with teachers and parents to support students with special needs.
- Career and College Counseling:
- Guide students in exploring career options and planning for post-secondary education.
- Assist with the college application process, including recommendations and interview preparation.
- Personal and Social Development:
- Conduct individual and group counseling to address social, emotional, and behavioral issues.
- Develop programs to enhance social skills, conflict resolution, and character development.
- Crisis Intervention and Support:
- Provide immediate support during crises such as bullying, family issues, or mental health concerns.
- Coordinate with external resources for additional support when needed.
- Collaboration and Consultation:
- Work with teachers, parents, and external agencies to identify and address student needs.
- Facilitate professional development on student mental health and inclusivity.
- Program Management:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive counseling program.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure program effectiveness through data analysis.
- Ethical and Legal Compliance:
- Adhere to ethical guidelines, maintaining confidentiality in all student matters.
- Stay updated on best practices in counseling and education.
Qualifications:
Education: Master’s degree in School Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
Certification: Valid state certification/licensure as a School Counselor.
Experience: Prior experience in a school setting preferred, but not required.
