About the Role:

The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher will play a key role in providing specialized instruction and support to students with hearing impairments. You’ll collaborate closely with school staff, students, and families to help ensure a safe, inclusive, and effective learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various educational settings

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to support student learning and accessibility

  • Advocate for appropriate accommodations and assistive technology to support student access to curriculum

  • Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations related to special education

Qualifications:

  • Valid Maryland State Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a related field

  • Preferred experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a school setting

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
