Job Title: Educational Diagnostician
Job Description:
The Educational Diagnostician is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and evaluating the academic, cognitive, and behavioral needs of students to support individualized education planning. This professional works collaboratively with educators, parents, and specialists to develop and implement effective strategies and interventions for students with learning differences or disabilities in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Administer formal and informal educational assessments to identify learning disabilities, developmental delays, and other academic concerns.
Interpret and analyze assessment data to determine student eligibility for special education services.
Prepare comprehensive, legally defensible diagnostic reports that include recommendations for instructional interventions and accommodations.
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, school psychologists, and parents in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) or IEP team meetings as an educational evaluator.
Monitor student progress and assist in evaluating the effectiveness of educational interventions and services.
Stay current with best practices, tools, and legal updates related to special education and diagnostics.
Provide professional development and consultation to school staff regarding assessment tools, interpretation, and instructional strategies for diverse learners.
Maintain accurate and timely records in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, or a related field.
Valid [state-specific] Educational Diagnostician certification.
Minimum [2-3] years of experience in special education or a related field preferred.
Proficiency in administering and interpreting a wide range of standardized academic and cognitive assessments (e.g., WJ-IV, WIAT-4, KTEA-3).
Strong knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and other applicable educational laws and regulations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced educational environment.
