Health and Physical Education Teacher – High School | 2025–2026 School Year

Location: Chester, PA
Job Type: Full-Time | Onsite
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week

A high school in Chester, PA is seeking a certified Health and Physical Education Teacher for the 2025–2026 school year. This is a full-time, in-person role focused on promoting physical well-being and health literacy for high school students in an urban school environment.

The ideal candidate is experienced in managing a classroom, delivering engaging lessons, and tailoring instruction to meet the needs of a diverse student body.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach high school-level health and physical education in accordance with Pennsylvania state standards

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that include physical fitness, personal health, wellness, and safety topics

  • Use assessments and student feedback to inform instruction and differentiate as needed

  • Maintain classroom structure, safety, and engagement through strong behavior management techniques

  • Support school initiatives related to student health, physical activity, and wellness

  • Collaborate with school leadership and staff to support student achievement and behavioral goals

Qualifications:

  • Active Pennsylvania teaching certification in Health and Physical Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required (mandatory for emergency permit eligibility)

  • Must complete all Pennsylvania clearances, including:

    • PA State Criminal Background Check

    • FBI Fingerprint Clearance

    • PA Child Abuse History Clearance

    • Mandated Reporter Training

  • At least one year of school-based teaching experience required

  • Prior experience in an urban education setting is highly preferred

  • Strong classroom management and student engagement skills
