Hourly Pay: $42–$47/hour (based on experience and qualifications)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and culturally responsive ESL (English as a Second Language) Teacher to serve English Learners (ELs) across K–12 grade levels in New Orleans, LA, for the 2025–2026 school year. The ideal candidate will be passionate about language acquisition, equitable access to education, and student-centered instruction that supports academic growth and language development.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver standards-aligned ESL instruction to English Learners in a pull-out, push-in, or co-teaching model
Assess English language proficiency and use data to guide individualized instruction
Provide differentiated instruction in reading, writing, listening, and speaking based on students’ language levels
Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to implement accommodations and support ELs across the curriculum
Create a welcoming, inclusive environment that affirms students’ cultural and linguistic backgrounds
Communicate regularly with families in a culturally sensitive manner, with support as needed for translation/interpretation
Monitor and document student progress toward language acquisition goals and participate in language proficiency assessments
Support compliance with state and federal regulations related to English Learner education
Engage in ongoing professional development focused on language instruction and multilingual learner support
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field
Valid Louisiana teaching certification with ESL endorsement (or eligibility to obtain prior to the start of the school year)
Experience working with English Learners in a K–12 setting preferred
Knowledge of WIDA English Language Development Standards and assessment practices
Strong collaboration, communication, and instructional planning skills
