Pay Rate: Starting at $40 per hour (based on experience)
We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to provide specialized educational support to students in New Orleans, LA for the 2025–2026 academic year. This is a full-time, on-site role serving students in a K–12 setting, supporting communication access and academic achievement for learners who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to accommodate various modes of communication (spoken language, sign language, cued speech, etc.)
Collaborate with general and special education staff to support inclusive classroom practices
Advocate for students' access to services, technology, and accommodations
Monitor and document student progress and participate in IEP meetings
Support the development of language, literacy, and social-emotional skills
Communicate effectively with families, support staff, and administrators
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a related field
Active Louisiana Teaching Certification with DHH endorsement (or eligibility to obtain)
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods preferred
Experience working with students in a school-based setting
Strong collaboration and communication skills
Starting hourly rate: $40 (commensurate with experience)
