Pay Rate: Starting at $40 per hour (based on experience)


We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to provide specialized educational support to students in New Orleans, LA for the 2025–2026 academic year. This is a full-time, on-site role serving students in a K–12 setting, supporting communication access and academic achievement for learners who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

  • Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to accommodate various modes of communication (spoken language, sign language, cued speech, etc.)

  • Collaborate with general and special education staff to support inclusive classroom practices

  • Advocate for students' access to services, technology, and accommodations

  • Monitor and document student progress and participate in IEP meetings

  • Support the development of language, literacy, and social-emotional skills

  • Communicate effectively with families, support staff, and administrators

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a related field

  • Active Louisiana Teaching Certification with DHH endorsement (or eligibility to obtain)

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods preferred

  • Experience working with students in a school-based setting

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
