Ready to make a meaningful impact? A school near Charlotte, NC is urgently looking for a passionate Orientation and Mobility Specialist to join their team for the 2025- 2026 school year!

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess students' orientation and mobility needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized O&M training programs.
  • Teach safe navigation techniques in school and community settings.
  • Instruct students in the use of assistive devices (e.g., white canes, GPS tools).
  • Collaborate with educators, parents, and staff to support student accessibility.
  • Train students in public transportation use and street crossings.
  • Advocate for accessibility improvements in schools and communities.
  • Monitor progress and adjust instruction as needed.
  • Provide staff training on supporting visually impaired students.

Contract
Full time
2025- 2026 school year
Caseload to be discussed during interview

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Orientation & Mobility, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Certification from ACVREP (Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals) as a Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS) preferred
