Blazer Jobs is proud to partner with the Glendale school district to present an exciting full-time, onsite opportunity for a dedicated Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS). This position is available for the current school year, offering stability, competitive pay, and long-term growth potential.

Position Overview:

As an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, you will play a vital role in helping students with visual impairments gain independence and confidence. You will assess, plan, and provide individualized instruction to meet students’ unique needs while collaborating closely with families and school staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized Orientation and Mobility instructional plans aligned with each student’s IEP.

  • Conduct thorough assessments to identify both short- and long-term student needs.

  • Teach safe and effective travel skills that promote independence.

  • Collaborate regularly with parents, classroom teachers, PE teachers, and special education staff.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and provide regular updates to the IEP team.

State & Certification Requirements:

  • IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

  • Master’s degree in Orientation and Mobility or a related field

  • Valid certificate from the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP)

  • Minimum of two years of public school experience

Candidates who do not meet requirements will not be considered.

Hours & Caseload:

  • Full-time: 37.5 hours per week

  • Student caseload includes providing orientation and mobility support across multiple grade levels.
