Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Specialist Reno, NV

We are seeking a dedicated Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Specialist to join a school district team in Reno, NV for the current academic year. This is a full-time, onsite position serving a K-12 caseload of students with visual impairments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide orientation and mobility instruction to students with visual impairments to promote independence and safe travel skills in various environments.

• Develop and implement individualized student programs based on assessments, needs, and goals.

• Collaborate with teachers, staff, families, and related service providers to support student success.

• Conduct assessments and maintain accurate documentation to monitor student progress and inform IEPs.

• Instruct students in the use of mobility tools and assistive technology to navigate their surroundings.

• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of educational plans.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Orientation and Mobility or related field.

• Valid ACVREP certification or state licensure as an O&M Specialist.

• Experience working in school settings with K-12 students is preferred.

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
