Occupational Therapist School Setting in Birmingham, AL

Seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic occupational therapist to work within a supportive educational environment and help students reach their full potential. This contract position runs ASAP through June 10, working across four schools, with a caseload of 50-60 students. Services will be delivered individually, in small groups, and with push-in support, adapting to each students unique needs and their Individualized Education Program (IEP) requirements.

Qualified candidates will possess strong school-based OT experience and the required Alabama-specific certification or licensure (documentation must be easily accessible). Direct service takes place on-site onlyremote or virtual therapy is not an option. School hours are from 7:45 am to 3:45 pm, offering consistency while making a significant difference in students lives.

Desired Qualifications:

• Current Alabama OT certification and license (required, must provide documentation)
• Previous school-based OT experience strongly preferred
• Ability to manage a caseload of 50-60 students across multiple schools
• Skilled in individual, small group, and push-in service delivery
• Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
• Experience adapting therapy approaches for varying IEP frequency/duration needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver occupational therapy services to students K-12 in accordance with their IEPs
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student goals
• Conduct assessments and document progress in compliance with school and state guidelines
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and provide professional recommendations
• Travel between school locations during the school day
