Job Description:
We are currently seeking a qualified and compassionate
Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide school-based services in the Virginia Beach, VA area. This full-time position supports students across various grade levels by helping them develop the skills necessary to participate successfully in the educational environment. The OT will work closely with students, educators, and families to promote independence and improve fine motor, sensory processing, and daily living skills within the school setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify students' functional and developmental needs
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with the educational team
- Provide direct and consultative therapy services to students in individual or group settings
- Support classroom staff in implementing strategies to promote student participation and success
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with school district and state requirements
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Monitor student progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
- Stay current with best practices and state/federal guidelines in school-based occupational therapy
Qualifications:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Current Occupational Therapy license in the state of Virginia
- NBCOT certification
- Previous experience in a school-based or pediatric setting preferred
- Strong communication, time management, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse student populations and educational teams
