Teacher's Aide - Canton, Michigan

Make a real impact supporting students as an American Sign Language (ASL) Paraprofessional in a middle school setting. This full-time contract position starts immediately and runs through June 4, 2027, offering the opportunity to build strong connections over multiple school years. You'll play a vital role in fostering accessible and inclusive learning environments for middle school students, collaborating with educators and staff to accommodate the unique needs of students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.

What were looking for:

• High school diploma (or higher); must provide transcript upon hire
• Fluent in American Sign Language
• Previous experience in a school setting as a paraprofessional or similar role
• Genuine passion for supporting student success
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and families
• Strong sense of responsibility and dependability

Your key responsibilities:

• Assist students with instructional tasks and classroom activities, supporting both academics and social integration
• Serve as a communication bridge between students, teachers, and peers using ASL
• Help facilitate participation in classroom discussions, group work, and school activities
• Work one-on-one or with small groups to reinforce learning objectives
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to educational staff
• Support the implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavior interventions
• Foster a positive, caring, and safe classroom environment
