Teacher's Aide - Converse, Texas

Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as an ASL Paraprofessional in a vibrant educational setting. This role is ideal for compassionate individuals with a dedication to working alongside children with hearing loss and a talent for American Sign Language support. Youll work closely with students at either Highlands High School or Mission Academy, both located a short distance apart, ensuring that every student receives the attention and resources they deserve.

Key Qualifications:

• Associate's degree or higher, OR
• At least 48 college semester hours recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional agency and the successful completion of a paraeducator course via Stedi.org (score of 70% or above)
• Experience working with pediatric or school-aged children with hearing loss
• Preferred: Bachelors degree
• Ability to pass a fingerprinting/background check in a timely manner
• Strong ASL skills and commitment to inclusive education

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide classroom and one-on-one support for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Facilitate communication and understanding between students and staff using ASL
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to implement educational plans, adapt materials, and assist with daily activities
• Support a caseload of 1030 students (K-12), depending on assigned site
• Maintain professionalism and flexibility, shifting between schools as needs arise

Role Details:

• Contract role beginning as soon as possible, concluding May 29, 2027
• 37.5 hours per week, during school hours
• On-site presence required
• Interviews scheduled for the last week of October; prompt credentialing is essential
