Special Education Para Professional in Cottage Grove, MN

Step into an impactful role supporting a middle school student as a 1:1 paraprofessional. This full-time, school-year position (32.5 hours per week) offers the opportunity to work closely with a female student with significant disabilities and behavioral needs. The role takes place in a well-supported classroom environment, where collaboration and teamwork are valued. Patience, compassion, and empathy are essential to thrive in this role, as the student is non-verbal and may experience physical frustration at times.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing dedicated 1:1 assistance to a middle school female student with various disabilities
• Supporting personal care needs, including toileting, feeding, and lifting
• Maintaining a patient, understanding, and kind approach at all times
• Implementing individualized strategies to help manage behaviors and encourage student engagement
• Fostering an inclusive, supportive class environment in collaboration with teaching staff
• Assisting with classroom organization and academic activities as directed by educators

To be considered, candidates should have:

• Paraprofessional test certification, or proof of completion of at least two years post-secondary coursework (60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits) or a college degree
• Experience working with individuals with significant disabilities and behavioral needs is highly desirable
• A compassionate, flexible attitude and strong interpersonal skills
• Physical ability to support lifting and transferring as needed
• Female candidates are preferred due to the students personal care needs
• Willingness to participate in an in-person interview as part of the selection process
