Special Education Para Professional in Gretna, LA

Step into a rewarding contract position supporting students in specialized classroom settings in the New Orleans area. This full-time opportunity is tailored for individuals who thrive in dynamic environments and are dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the lives of children with a variety of complex educational needs. Starting as soon as possible and continuing through the end of May 2027, you'll work collaboratively within teams focused on helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Qualifications:

• Associates Degree, OR a ParaPro assessment score of at least 450, OR at least 48 semester credit hours (must be met to be considered)
• Prior classroom experience
• Ability to read and interpret IEPs and adapt to diverse student needs
• Familiarity with Autism and related disabilities
• Preferred but not required: CPI training, de-escalation experience, significant behavior management background, CPR Certification
• Must be able to pass a drug test and district fingerprinting, in addition to the standard background check

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day support in lower teacher-to-pupil ratio classes
• Assist students who communicate in complex ways and may display challenging behaviors, including physical aggression
• Work closely with certified teachers and specialists to implement instructional and behavioral plans
• Support students participation and inclusion in classroom activities
• Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment
