Para Professional in Metairie, LA

Step into a vital support role within a school environment dedicated to serving students in lower teacher-to-pupil ratio classrooms. This contract position offers full-time hours (35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, in alignment with the school calendar) and provides the opportunity to make a meaningful difference for children, primarily those with Autism or related disabilities. The assignment length runs through the end of May 2027, with placement details to be determined upon hire.

What Youll Bring:

• Experience supporting students in classroom settings, especially those with complex communication needs and challenging or aggressive behaviors
• Ability to read and interpret Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• At least one of the following, per district requirements: Associates Degree, a ParaPro assessment score of 450+, or completion of at least 48 semester credit hours
• Classroom experience is required
• Preferred but not required: CPI or de-escalation training, significant behavioral intervention experience, and CPR certification
• Willingness to complete drug testing, fingerprinting, and background screening as part of the credentialing process

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide direct, hands-on support to students in need of personalized instructional and behavioral interventions
• Support teachers and staff in implementing IEPs and adapting instructional materials as necessary
• Assist with the management and de-escalation of behavioral challenges, advocating for students well-being and safety
• Foster a supportive, respectful classroom atmosphere for all learners
