Classroom Assistant | New Orleans, Louisiana

Make a meaningful impact supporting students in specialized classrooms near New Orleans, LA. This full-time contract position provides the opportunity to work closely with children in lower teacher-to-pupil ratio settings, some of whom have complex communication needs and challenging behaviors, including occasional aggression. Your experience and skills can truly change lives as you assist educators and students throughout the school year.

Desired Qualifications:

• Associates degree, OR a ParaPro assessment score of at least 450, OR 48 semester credit hours (must meet at least one requirement)
• Classroom experience is required
• Strong understanding of IEPs
• Familiarity with students on the Autism spectrum and related disabilities
• Preferred but not required: CPI or de-escalation training, significant behavior management experience, CPR Certification

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in classrooms with lower teacher-to-pupil ratios
• Support students with diverse communication styles and behavioral needs
• Implement IEP-driven activities and daily routines
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff
• Help students develop social, academic, and functional skills
• Practice positive behavioral interventions and maintain a safe learning environment

Essential Details:

• Full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday (follows school calendar)
• Contract runs ASAP through May 27, 2027
• School assignments and caseload details to be determined
• Must complete district-required drug testing, fingerprints, and agency background screenings prior to placement
