Para Professional in Northampton, PA

Make a difference supporting students in an educational environment as a contracted paraprofessional for the upcoming school year. Full-time opportunities are available beginning August 21, 2026, through June 4, 2027, with roles based exclusively within the Jim Thorpe Area Schools. Please note: travel candidates are not eligible; school-based experience is required.

There are three unique assignments available, each providing 1:1 support to students with specific needs:

Key Qualifications:

• Prior experience in a school setting is essential
• Comfortable providing dedicated 1:1 support to students with diverse and higher behavioral or physical needs
• Understanding of, or willingness to work with, students with autism, physical disabilities, or life skills program requirements
• Adaptable to changing student routines
• Able to maintain professional boundaries and provide compassionate care

Position Details:

• Contract runs from late August 2026 to early June 2027
• Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week (approximately 7:15 am 3:00 pm, subject to future adjustment)
• Individual assignments include:
  • Support for a high school student in a Life Skills program with autism, focusing on keeping the student engaged and safe
  • Support for a CCTI program student, including classroom assistance and bus travel between buildings
  • Assistance for a first-grade student with cerebral palsy, including feeding, personal care, repositioning, and academic assistance
