Instructional Assistant - Redford, Michigan

This temporary leave coverage role requires a compassionate and experienced paraprofessional to work either 1:1 or in a classroom with students who have special needs. The position involves a commitment of 35 hours per week for a period of approximately 612 weeks.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• At least one year of direct experience supporting students (PreK12) with behavioral needs and/or special education in a school environment
• Experience assisting with behavioral intervention plans and academic engagement
• Minimum of 60 college credits, an associate degree (or higher), or a passing ParaPro Assessment score
• CPI certification is preferred but not required
• Ability to provide two references, including one supervisor, reflecting relevant skills and roles

Position Responsibilities:

• Deliver hands-on instructional and behavioral support for students, including those with moderate to severe autism
• Collaborate closely with teachers and related support staff to maintain a safe, positive, and engaging classroom environment
• Assist with daily activities such as toileting, feeding, diapering, and transfers, as needed
• Remain attentive and involved throughout the entirety of the school day
• Help implement individualized behavior plans and foster student independence

Preference will be given to candidates within a 35-minute commute of the district and who demonstrate flexibility, punctuality, and commitment to students well-being.
