Key Qualifications:

  • Must hold one of the following:
    • Associates degree or higher
    • At least 48 college semester hours (recognized by TX Education Agency or relevant regional agency) and completion of a paraeducator course via Stedi.org with a passing score of 70% or above
    • Relevant pediatric or school-based experience supporting children with hearing loss
  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • ASL proficiency and previous classroom/educational support experience strongly desired
  • Ability to complete all time-sensitive credentialing, including background check and fingerprinting

Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing within classroom settings
  • Foster an engaging, accessible learning environment by facilitating communication through American Sign Language
  • Partner with teachers and specialists, adapting educational activities to student needs
  • Advocate for student inclusion and success by modeling positive behavior and encouraging participation
  • Assist with daily classroom routines, supervision, and individualized support as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and a strong commitment to student well-being
