Step into an essential support role as an ASL Paraprofessional, providing dedicated assistance to students in a dynamic educational setting. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work closely with learners who are Deaf or hard of hearing, helping to facilitate communication and academic success within a school community. The assignment begins as soon as possible and runs through May 29, 2027, offering a consistent weekly schedule of 37.5 hours on-site.

Your work will primarily focus on supporting students ranging from ages at Highlands High School (serving 10 students) and Mission Academy (supporting 30 students). The expected location may vary based on student caseload, with strong likelihood of all students being assigned to a single site for efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Associates degree or higher, or
• At least 48 college semester hours (recognized by TX Education Agency or regional agency) and completion of the Stedi.org paraeducator course with a 70%+ score,
• Pediatric or school-based experience working with children who have hearing loss,
• Bachelors degree preferred,
• Strong proficiency in American Sign Language,
• Must complete fingerprinting and pass a background check as part of credentialing.

Responsibilities:

• Provide ASL interpretation and classroom support to students with hearing loss,
• Collaborate with teachers and education specialists to tailor communication strategies,
• Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment,
• Assist in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and reinforce lessons,
• Support students throughout the school day in both academic and extracurricular activities.
