School-Based Physical Therapist - Aurora, Illinois

This short-term contract role provides direct, educationally focused physical therapy services to special education students, with an emphasis on helping them acquire or compensate for deficits in gross motor skills. The assignment covers a mix of grade levels, including a significant focus on transition-age students (ages 2022). The position is full-time, onsite, and set near Aurora, IL.

Key Qualifications:

• Active Illinois Physical Therapist license is required
• Pediatric experience essential, especially in educational environments
• Demonstrated background working in schools with diverse student populations
• Knowledge of strategies for physical therapy delivery in special education
• Exceptional communication and documentation skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized physical therapy interventions to students as part of their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Assess gross motor skill deficits and develop targeted treatment plans
• Collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to maximize student potential
• Document therapy sessions and progress in accordance with school and state requirements
• Provide consultation and guidance to school staff for adapting activities and environments
• Engage in case conferencing and IEP team meetings as needed

This contract role spans from August 17th through November 4th and requires onsite service. The caseload offers the opportunity to work across various grade levels and to make a significant impact on students transitioning to adulthood.
