School Physical Therapist | Elgin, Illinois

This short-term contract opportunity runs from August 17 to November 4 and is perfect for an experienced Physical Therapist eager to support students with varying needs, particularly young adults transitioning to post-school life (ages 2022).

As an onsite PT, you will collaborate with educators and special education staff to help students overcome gross motor challenges, empowering them to achieve their highest level of independence in academic settings. Youll play an integral role in tailoring interventions and guiding students through activities that bolster mobility, strength, and functional movement.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Current Illinois Physical Therapy license required
• Previous pediatric and school-based PT experience is essential
• Knowledge of interventions for mixed grade levels, with an emphasis on transition-aged students (2022 years old)
• Strong communication skills and an adaptable, student-centered approach

Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized or group physical therapy to special education students
• Assess student gross motor skills and create targeted therapy plans
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to coordinate individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Monitor student progress and document treatment outcomes
• Provide guidance to staff and families on strategies for student success
• Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages student participation and independence
