As a School Nurse (LPN), you’ll be the go-to healthcare professional within the school. Your work will help maintain a healthy learning environment, manage chronic conditions, respond to medical emergencies, and promote overall wellness among students and staff.
Provide first aid and urgent care for student injuries and illnesses
Administer daily and emergency medications and treatments
Monitor and support students with chronic health needs (asthma, diabetes, etc.)
Develop and maintain Individual Health Plans (IHPs) in coordination with school staff and parents
Keep accurate, confidential student health records in accordance with Illinois guidelines
Educate staff and students on wellness, hygiene, and health practices
Assist in developing and executing school emergency and safety protocols
Required:
Active LPN license in Illinois
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or practical nursing diploma
Current CPR and BLS certification
Strong communication and record-keeping skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a school-based team
Preferred:
Experience with pediatric care, public health, or school nursing
Familiarity with IEP/IHP documentation and student accommodations
