School Registered Nurse (RN) in Jersey City, NJ

Looking for an opportunity to make a significant impact in a supportive school environment? A contract position is available for a dedicated Registered Nurse with proven experience in pediatric care. This onsite assignment, conveniently located near Jersey City, offers a chance to work one-on-one with a young student facing complex medical needs.

In this role, you will support a three-year-old student diagnosed with Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (INAD). The student is non-ambulatory, non-verbal, weighs approximately 24lbs, and relies on specialized medical equipment including a NG-tube (not a G-tube). Comfort with lifting, transporting, and using devices such as a stander and gait-trainer is a necessity. The role requires you to accompany the student on the bus each day, ensuring their safety and well-being during transit.

Qualifications / Skills:

• Active RN license in New Jersey
• Pediatric experience essential
• School nursing experience strongly preferred
• Comfortable with NG-tube management
• Ability to lift and transport a non-ambulatory child
• Experience using standers and gait-trainers a plus
• Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate approach
• Availability for full-time hours (approx. 35 per week), with an 8am to 3pm schedule

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to a medically fragile student
• Oversee all health and medical needs throughout the school day and during bus transit
• Collaborate with teachers, aides, and school staff to create a safe, inclusive learning environment
• Maintain accurate health records and documentation
