School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) - New Orleans, Louisiana

Step into a rewarding contract role supporting students health needs at schools in the vibrant New Orleans area. This assignment runs through May 22, 2026, offering an opportunity to make a real difference on a school campus (or two) within a flexible, student-centered district. Youll work full-time, Monday through Friday, with a 35-hour-per-week schedule that aligns to the school calendar. Being open to placements across the East or West Bank campus locations is keyyour willingness to respond where youre most needed will be highly valued.

Ideal candidates bring direct school nursing experience and a deep commitment to pediatric care. Familiarity with tracheostomy and g-tube management, managing diabetes, maintaining meticulous records, participating in IEPs, conducting screenings, and providing staff training are all central to success in this position.

What youll need:

• A current RN license (BSN preferred; ASN accepted)
• At least one year of experience as a school nurse
• Solid background with trach and g-tube care, diabetic management, and student screenings
• Demonstrated experience training non-medical staff and collaborating on IEPs
• Advanced skills with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Sheets
• Exceptional communication, record-keeping, and delegation abilities
• Passion for student wellness and school communities
• Availability for pre-employment screenings, including separate drug screening and fingerprinting as district prerequisites

What youll do:

• Provide day-to-day nursing care for students at your assigned school(s)
• Administer treatments, medications, and emergency care as needed
• Develop and maintain health records, IEP contributions, and care plans
• Train support and teaching staff in basic medical procedures
• Champion the health and safety of the student population

Compensation for this role aligns with your years of school nursing experience, from $28 up to $40 per hour.
