Blazer Jobs is actively interviewing experienced School-Based Sign Language Interpreters (SLIs) for a full-time role with school districts in the Albemarle, NC area. We are seeking dedicated professionals with a passion for supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide sign language interpretation for students in academic and extracurricular activities.

  • Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff using American Sign Language (ASL).

  • Ensure accurate and effective interpretation of classroom instruction and discussions.

  • Support students in understanding curriculum materials and assignments.

  • Adapt interpretation style to meet students' individual learning needs.

  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to enhance student success.

  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Interpreting, Deaf Education, or a related field (required).

  • National Interpreter Certification (NIC) or Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 4.0+ preferred.

  • Experience working in an educational setting with students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

  • Strong ASL proficiency and understanding of deaf culture.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
