Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)

Location: Near Boston, MA

We are urgently seeking a qualified and compassionate Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to support students for the remainder of the 2025 school year. This full-time contract position will make a significant impact on the communication needs of deaf or hard of hearing students.

Position Details:

• Full-Time Contract: ASAP – End of 2025 School Year
• Caseload: To be discussed during the interview process
• Location: Near Boston, MA
• Pay: Competitive, with weekly pay

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide classroom interpretation for lectures, discussions, and student interactions using American Sign Language (ASL) or other appropriate communication modes.
• Adapt interpreting techniques to meet individual students’ language and educational needs.
• Facilitate communication during classroom activities, assemblies, field trips, and extracurricular events.
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to ensure alignment with the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards.
• Assist with note-taking or captioning if required as part of student accommodations.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in ASL and a deep understanding of Deaf culture.
• Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA).
