About the Role:

The Sign Language Interpreter will play a key role in facilitating communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff. You’ll collaborate closely with educational teams and families to support student learning in an inclusive and accessible environment.

Responsibilities:

• Provide interpretation services in classroom and school-related settings as outlined in students’ IEPs

• Maintain accurate records of services provided and student progress

• Work collaboratively with educators, service providers, and families to support student goals

• Promote inclusive participation and communication access across all learning activities

• Ensure adherence to ethical standards and compliance with district, state, and federal regulations

Qualifications:

• Valid Washington Educational Interpreter certificate or equivalent state-recognized credential

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in interpreting, Deaf studies, or a related field

• Experience interpreting in K-12 settings preferred

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of educational interpreting standards

• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
