Grade Levels: K–12
Compensation: $50–$55 per hour (based on experience)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Sign Language Interpreter (SLI/ASL Interpreter) to provide interpreting services for students in K–12 settings for the 2025–2026 school year in Fresno, CA. The interpreter will play a vital role in facilitating communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and school staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation services using American Sign Language (ASL) in educational settings
- Interpret classroom instruction, school activities, and other relevant communications
- Support student participation in both academic and extracurricular activities
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure appropriate access to instruction
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards
- Adapt interpreting techniques based on student needs and educational context
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Valid certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or EIPA score of 3.5 or higher
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Prior experience in an educational setting preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively with students of varying ages and needs
Contract Details:
- Full-time or part-time opportunities available
- 2025–2026 school year
- Hourly pay: $50–$55 based on experience
