Job Title: Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)
Location: Fresno, CA

We are seeking a qualified Sign Language Interpreter to join our team in Fresno, California. This position provides essential interpretation services in educational settings, supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing by ensuring access to instruction and communication throughout the school day.

Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa in classroom and school-related environments

• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, peers, and school staff

• Support students' academic and social engagement by accurately conveying spoken and signed content

• Collaborate with educational teams to support student success

• Maintain professional conduct, confidentiality, and adherence to interpreting standards

• Adapt interpreting methods to meet individual student communication preferences and learning needs

Requirements:

• A minimum score of 3.5 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) or national certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID)

• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in interpreting or related field preferred

• Understanding of deaf culture and educational interpreting best practices

• Experience in educational settings is preferred
