Blazer Jobs is currently hiring a School-Based Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) for a full-time role in Harvey, Louisiana for the 2025–2026 school year.
This position plays a vital role in supporting communication and equal access to instruction for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. At Blazer Jobs, we stand behind professionals who make a lasting impact, working to make life better for those who make lives better.
Primary Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and extracurricular activities using ASL
Facilitate communication between students, peers, and staff
Support inclusion of Deaf students in general education settings
Participate in educational meetings and planning sessions as needed
Adhere to ethical standards and promote cultural sensitivity
Qualifications:
EIPA score of 3.5 or higher or Louisiana BESE-approved certification
Fluency in ASL and strong understanding of educational interpreting practices
Ability to work collaboratively with students, educators, and parents
Must meet all Louisiana and federal qualifications for educational interpreters
