Key Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time ASL interpretation for students in classroom settings, school activities, and meetings.
- Facilitate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and staff.
- Interpret a variety of educational content including lectures, discussions, videos, and announcements.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards and school policies.
- Collaborate with special education staff, general education teachers, and support teams to ensure accessibility and inclusion.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher (preferred)
- Previous experience working in K-12 school settings preferred
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and time-management skills
- Must pass background check and meet Louisiana state requirements for school-based employment
