Job Title: Sign Language Interpreter / ASL Interpreter
Location: New Orleans, LA area (School-Based)
Job Type:  2025-2026 Academic Year Position
Pay: $35–$40 per hour, depending on experience and certification

Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a qualified and dedicated Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) to support students who are deaf or hard of hearing across schools in the New Orleans, LA area. The ideal candidate will be skilled in American Sign Language and passionate about providing access to education through clear and accurate interpretation services.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide real-time ASL interpretation for students in classroom settings, school activities, and meetings.
  • Facilitate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and staff.
  • Interpret a variety of educational content including lectures, discussions, videos, and announcements.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards and school policies.
  • Collaborate with special education staff, general education teachers, and support teams to ensure accessibility and inclusion.
Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher (preferred)
  • Previous experience working in K-12 school settings preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and time-management skills
  • Must pass background check and meet Louisiana state requirements for school-based employment
